This is an email I had written to the Danbury News Times on 5/23/09 to promote Danbury Hall of Fame tournament. I wanted to share this with all of you.

Hello,
My name is Aimee Schlemmer. I am the webmaster for the Danbury Horseshoe Club.
We are a non-profit organization, founded in 1991.
I am writing to you to see if the News Times could do an article on our upcoming Hall of Fame tournament being held at our club on Sunday May 31. Located on Backus Ave in front of the airport.
I am a first time tournament director, after playing in the league for almost 5 years. We have 52 participants for a full day affair. Four classes starting at 9 am and three classes at 1 pm.
19 participants are from our club and 31 are from other clubs across Ct, one from RI and one from NY. 5 women, 46 men and an 8 year old boy. Yes, I said 8 years old. He will be competing in my class, sitting 3rd seat with a 17.31 ringer%, while I am 7th seat at 15.50%.
In last years tournament we played each other and he beat me by 1 point.
Horseshoe Clubs participating are :
Valley Horseshoe League : Shelton, Connecticut
Danbury Horseshoe Club : Danbury, Connecticut
New Haven Horseshoe Club : New Haven, Connecticut
Weik/Towne Horseshoe Club : Morris, Connecticut
Central Ct Horseshoe Club : East Hartford, Connecticut
New London County Horseshoe League : Norwich, Connecticut
Little Rhody Horseshoe Club : Coventry, Rhode Island
Morning classes range Afternoon classes
Class D : 27.78 to 25.07 Class A : 62.79 to 42.07
Class E : 23.37 to 19.84 Class B : 40.71 to 35.04
Class F : 18.95 to 15.50 Class C : 34.47 to 28.05
Class G : 14.84 to 7.47
Mark Mason, our club president and myself went to New Haven last Sunday to compete in the Sam Bartrum tournament, they had hosted. We both played in different classes. He took 4th place in his class and I took 1st place after a playoff with one of the women I will be again playing against. We stayed and gave a hand keeping score for the afternoon classes. In Class A, it was a final game between Glenn Ellis and Dave Lick (they will be in Class A for the tournament) they each shot 33 ringers each, Glenn won the game by 2 or 3 points and both finished the game with a 61.1 %.
Both men are in the top 5 ranked men in Connecticut. Glenn is ranked 3rd and Dave is ranked 4th.
I am hoping that someone from the News Times could come down and cover the tournament for both the morning and afternoon classes.
Thank you for taking the time to read this,
Aimee Schlemmer
